ROCKNESS WAGES WAR ON WARM BEER!!!!

Carling knows that there is nothing worse than your beer not being cold at a festival, miles from your local and your fridge! But just because you and your mates are in the middle of a field it doesn't mean your refreshment should suffer.

Carling, as the official beer partner of RockNess will be guarantying the perfect ice-cold pint of Carling at every bar across the festival site.

Carling stepped up the battle against warm beer in 2006 and after two successful years touring UK festivals, is now introducing Cold Beer Amnesty to Rock Ness this summer bigger, better and colder than ever. Carling's Cold Beer Amnesty ensures that warm beer is a thing of the past by swapping ANY unopened can of warm beer with a cold can of Carling. Carling will be giving away nearly 4000 cases of ice cold beer at Rock Ness this year.

Visit Cold Beer Amnesty in the campsite this year!

FANTASTIC FARMERS FESTIVAL FAYRE!!!

At Rockness this year we are bringing a fantastic twist to the festival food experience, you will now be able to browse through the Argyll farmers market marquee soaking in the vibrant atmosphere, created by the mouth watering tastes and aromas of the best seasonal produce from across Argyll.

You will be served by the farmer, fisherman or cheese maker who has passion for their product and who wants you to experience it at its best…

Coordinator Lesley Strang says "The whole idea behind it is that they are all small food producers & farms from Argyll who are selling their homemade produce from within a large marquee.
By joining together they are able to bring their products to large scale events, whereas before it was impossible. The food is all of real high quality. The hall itself has a great atmosphere with all these people under one roof cooking amazing food."

Just some of the unique dishes on offer within the market include:

Loch Fyne Oysters - oysters, salmon, soups, scallop bacon kebabs, prawns
Barbreck Farm - roast beef, roast lamb, beef burgers, black pudding, lorn sausage, eggs
Bumble - hot/cold puddings, ice cream, cakes, hot drinks, muesli, fruit juices
Ifferdale - lamb burgers, lamb kebabs, stir-fry, wraps
Inverloch - cheese on toast, cauliflower cheese, Paninis, cheese burgers

SoCo SOCIAL SETS SCENE FOR SUPER SCOTTISH SMASH-UP!!

Nessie will have more amazing music at her shores this summer as SoCo today announces its SoCo Social tent as part of our 2008 line-up!!!

SoCo Social will be presenting a host of amazing talent including homegrown deck-master and producer Mylo, hot DJs including Alan Braxe, Yoda and Eclectic Method, live acts Midnight Juggernauts and David E Sugar with many more to be announced...

SoCo Social nights have been kick starting weekends with a bang over the UK for the past year, bringing legendary DJs such as Groove Armada, Norman Jay and Steve Angello to intimate venues on Thursday and Friday nights, but with a tent at Rock Ness, SoCo Social will provide the soundtrack to the whole weekend to keep the crowds dancing until morning.

Pitched by the Nesstival area, the electro-pop-party-mash up tent will be decked out in nu rave meets New Orleans chic, where the citys heritage meets the UK party scene. By day the tents dancefloor is framed by neon-flocked wallpaper, a glowstick chandelier, giant decadent mirrors and areas to sip tasty SoCo drinks. By evening, the late-night tent will be the beacon for the party crowd with projection screens for live VJ sets, neon nigns and a LED light trail leading out into the surroundings of the Loch.

As SoCo Social has been taught how to party by one of the greatest musical cities on earth - New Orleans - expect a liberal sprinkling of Mardi Gras masks and beads as well as dressing up and make-up booths for a look to match the electric atmosphere.

SPOKES CLINCH 'SOUND 08' VICTORY

www.amazingtunes.com

Dedicated new-music portal amazingtunes are proud to announce Mancunian post-rock quintet Spokes as winners of their astonishing 'Sound 08' unsigned acts initiative, securing the band a coveted slot on the Go North stage at premiere Scottish festival Rock Ness and airplay for their winning track 'Young People! All Together' on indie radio giants Xfm.

Commenting on their win Spokes' Matt Baty said "Winning Sound 08 is one of the best things that has happened to us as a band. It means we can get the kind of exposure we could only have dreamed of. We're also really excited to be given the opportunity to play our music at a professional level at Rock Ness and experience what it's like to play a high profile event. It's also going to give us a fantastic platform to continue progressing as a band."

Simon King, 'amazingtunes' Managing Director commented "We're delighted that Spokes have won the competition, they represent that kind of new and innovative music we are seeing uploaded to amazingtunes all the time. I continue to be stunned by the range and quality of unsigned music out there and, really, Sound 08, is part of our mission to get it to new audiences. Having Xfm and RockNess involved is quite simply the dream ticket for any band, so we are expecting great things from Spokes this year."

With over 2000 tracks entered into the competition, 'Sound 08' judges, former Futureheads manager Scott Baker-Marflitt and Xfm program director Ande Macpherson, whittled the influx of music down to a final shortlist of 20 tracks, that came from as far and wide as Maidenhead to Glasgow and Leeds to South Wales, representing the cream of unsigned music in the UK.

After a month of frenzied public voting, Spokes have emerged victorious with a colossal 18% of the vote ensuring that the swelling majesty of 'Young People! All Together' will reach across the airwaves and that the band get to showcase their emotive, throbbing riffs to one of the UK's most enthusiastic crowds.

Building from pastoral beginnings into a driving wall-of-sound, replete with a bubbling schoolyard soundtrack, 'Young People! All Together' is a soaring opus, that deservedly topped the 20 strong shortlist which boasted superb quality throughout from some of the UK’s freshest up-and-coming talent. With amazingtunes' serious commitment to making music fair for artists, giving then 70% of any profits made from music sales. 'Sound 08' has seen the site continue to push digital boundaries with their radical vision for new-music.

THE BATTLE OF PORTALOO !!!!

We have noticed that at last years RockNess, there was a general feeling that the toilet facilities could have been a little bit better...guess what... We are going to do something about it!

We hold our hands high and say 'Our fault folks' and we promise to do better this year...

Our site management team ,and the guys in charge of the loos, have been working long and hard on a solution to keep your festival experience smelling a little sweeter.

We have devised a plan whereby roving toilet inspectors (or The Polyjohn Power Team!!!) will be monitoring the state of the toilets. They will be ensuring the toilets are clean, have plenty of toilet rolls and generally keeping a eye on things in that area.
We are also promoting the RockNess clean hands scheme so that there is hand sanitising facilities available for you after each visit…

Don't forget, they most important people are YOU... try to give the toilet a once over as you leave ( and guys, please put the seat back down... ) x

The Twang confirm RockNess visit...

Rock Ness organisers have confirmed THE TWANG as the latest act lined up to join the 2008 festival bill.

The Twang's appearance follows a triumphant year which has seen the Birmingham quintet play a sell out UK tour in support of their fantastic debut album release 'Love It When I feel Like This'. The album hit the #3 spot in the UK charts and featured a Mike Skinner collaboration on their second single 'Either Way'.

2007 also saw The Twang perform to the nation on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge, be the subject of a BBC Radio 1 documentary, grace the cover of the NME and scoop the coveted NME Philip Hall Radar Award for which recognises rising talent.

Championed by everyone from Noel Gallagher to Terry Wogan (!), the buzz surrounding this band has been inescapable largely due to their pulsating live sets and swaggering rock 'n' roll attitude which has drawn comparisons to Oasis, The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays.
