goEVENTS, organisers of the highly successful goNORTH music showcase have announced a FINAL CALL for aspiring music stars to submit their entries and be in with a chance of performing at this summer's high profile Highland events in June.

Established as Scotland's leading platform for new music and all things music business related, the goNORTH initiative - staged in Inverness on 10 and 11 June - gives the most exciting new acts the chance to shine at what promises to be the best year yet with a record number of submissions coming in from across the nation, and further afield, and increased audience attendance figures expected.

Celebrating its landmark tenth anniversary, goNORTH guarantees an unrivalled level of exposure for the successful shortlisted acts in front of both the music-loving public and the industry's most influential talent scouts and delegates. This year's goNORTH programme will see the return of the flagship Industry Seminar. Past speakers at this full capacity event include maverick mogul Alan McGee, Keith Harris - Motown stalwart of 30 years and long term manager of Stevie Wonder, and the late Tony Wilson ( legendary co-founder of Factory Records and The Hacienda) . Details of the very special guest speaker for 2010 will be revealed soon.

What's more, successful acts could be featuring on the goNORTH 2010 ALBUM released direct to the industry prior to the event via MUSIC WEEK - the definitive industry bible, PLUS securing the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at RockNess in the goNORTH Arena! Stardom awaits.

Also back by popular demand is an extended programme of goNORTH music-related activity, ranging from uber cool film screenings and practical music and art workshops, to the intriguing goNORTH Magical Mystery Tour. Last year's Tour saw guests whisked out by speedboat to the centre of iconic Loch Ness where they were treated to a live performance by Scotland's hottest new acts. Watch this space for more details on what lies ahead in 2010.

All goNORTH showcase gigs are free and open to the public. In recent years the line up has featured an international array of talent spanning not only Scotland and the wider UK but also the USA, Russia, Scandinavia, The Netherlands and the Basque Country.

"This year's goNORTH Tenth Anniversary promises to be the best yet and already we have been inundated with submissions from bands and artists. The goNORTH showcase offers an unrivalled level of exposure and support for budding stars and if the standard of entries from previous years is anything to go by, 2010 is shaping up to be pretty special."

Iain Hamilton, Head of Creative Industries, Highlands & Islands Enterprise

"The North of Scotland is becoming recognised for brand new sounds and commercially popular bands. GoNORTH plays an integral part in what is an escalating success story for this region and HIE is delighted to be a partner in the event again this year."
