We Speak to RockNess 2010 DJ Competition Winner!

WOOP WOOP, THEY STORMED IT, HE CONQUERED…

 Massive congratulations to NEIL RANKIN of Galashiels – WINNER of this year’s RockNess DJ Competition.

Once again we were blown away by the number of entries and the quality of submissions, and it was a really tough call deciding on the finalists and the ultimate winner.  Everyone played storming sets in Bollywood on the Saturday but Neil edged it to the top spot.

Speaking about the experience he says "I’m absolutely over the moon to have won the RockNess DJ competition for 2010.  I've enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish.  The highlight of the weekend for me was playing the closing set on Sunday night to the packed out Bollywood Arena.  I had an amazing night and it looked like the crowd were enjoying it too.  Massive thanks to RockNess for giving aspiring DJs like me this opportunity.  I'm now looking forward to seeing what the success from the competition might bring".

A big shout out to the other DJs who made it through the regional heats to the Grand Finale with Neil too…COLIN BROWNBILL, JAMES TONES, LED, LIAM GORDON, LOCA, MARC MacDONALD, RYAN CASS, STEVE CALVERT, STU ISLES and TARB.  All worthy finalists who dropped some seriously superb tunes.  And great to welcome back last year’s winner FUAD and 2009 finalists STEVE CASS, WEARENOTROBOTS and MGCK who returned to spin their magic at Ness again this year too.

Very big thanks to DAVE CLARKE from Soma Records and HARRI from Sub Club for once again being so involved in the judging process and taking time out of their busy schedules.
